This is an excellent movie! I felt they gave a fair portrayal of the Queen during the difficult days following Diana's death. Helen Mirren & Michael Sheen did an outstanding job as Queen Elizabeth & Tony Blair, both showing inner growth in their characters over that 1 week time period. The scenery and the images of the Queen's home and land was at time breathtaking. They also did a wonderful job explaining the history and protocol of the Royal family. It's a must see if you love history and biographical type movies.

Americans may not realize that there?s a political movement in the UK - for nearly 150 years - strongly in favor of abolishing the monarchy. Elizabeth may be "from another generation" or from the stiff upper lip class, but her handling of the Diana funeral affair shows an ?out-of-touch? cluelessness that is mind boggling. If Tony Blair, and other well-intentioned monarchists, had not forced Elizabeth into the limelight there?s a real possibility that the anti-monarchy movement might have grown. If accurate, I was pleased to see Charles more affected/moved by this tragedy than he appeared to be. According to the film even Charles knew enough to be frightened of a possible assassination attempt in the days immediately following Diana's death. He fears the anti-monarchists, as well he should I guess. The movement is real & the dispassionate detachment of the royals from the people of Great Britain - as depicted in this movie - gives an American audience some idea as to why. Excellent!
